York Minster Walking Group
Hello, welcome to the York Minster Walking Group's web site.
The group started walking together in 1998 and has walked on the first Saturday of the month ever since, meeting at ten thirty. We have visited many parts of the Yorkshire Dales, Yorkshire Moors and Yorkshire Wolds.
In 2006 we walked from Grassington to Robin Hood’s Bay a 100 mile trek in 20km monthly sections. This began a programme of linear long distance walks for the more energetic members on the third Saturday of each month.
Then 2013 we began an Autumn Lakeland Challenge with two days climbing from a base in Braithwaite, which was so successful with the ten walkers attending. It has now become an annual Spring and Autumn Challenge.
Also in 2013 three members of the group set off for Spain to walk part of the Camino Frances route from Leon to Santiago de Compostela and then in 2014 doing all of the Ingles Route to Santiago. So began a new theme of pilgrimages and in 2015 another five walkers did the Camino Frances from Cacabelos Monastery to SdC. Later in May 2017 five more walkers spent a week walking from Melrose to Lindisfarne on the St Cuthbert's Way. Now bringing us right up to date during 2018 and 2019 a group of our members are walking 250km on the Via Francegena in Italy from Lucca to Rome.

Circular walks are usually between eight and fifteen kilometres in length, linear walks sixteen to twenty kilometres. Everyone is most welcome to join us.
Still interested? Then take a look at some of the photographs taken on the walks during the last year.
